Why We’re Proud to Partner with Women for Women International

February 1, 2024

Here at Kooky, we are a company that regularly puts our core values on show, and we love nothing more than shining a light on great causes and highlighting stunning work that is being done by charities across the world.

One of these charities is Women for Women International. This is an organisation very close to our hearts, and we are proud to say that since our inception, we have been a corporate sponsor for this amazing cause.

To let you know more, our team have created this blog to help shine a light on the amazing things they do.

Let’s take a look.

Women for Women International

We are proud to align ourselves and our brand with this charity, whose great team work tirelessly to help women who are caught in the crossfire of war.

Since it was found in 1993, Women for Women International has been empowering women in war-torn regions, giving them the resources and help they need to move from the crisis and poverty that are a result of war to a place of stability and self-sufficiency.

One of the great things about Women for Women International is that they don’t just supply aid. They work with the women affected by war, ensuring they are provided with long-lasting skills that will set them up for a prosperous future.

This includes:

  • Vocational Training – The reach of this charity is widespread, and many different communities and cultures are touched by their work. Their workers ensure the right skills are taught for each location, providing skills that are required in each community, whether it is tailoring, agriculture, or crafts.

  • Rights Education – A key element of the work that is done is making sure that every person the charity works with ends up with a clear understanding of their rights. It is a vital aspect, and the organisation ensures all women are educated on their legal rights so that they know where they stand in case of issues.

  • Health Education – Some of the locations which are visited are severely lacking in the resources needed, especially when war is currently taking place, or recently has been. In such places, a clear understanding of hygiene, nutrition, and sexual health is vital to ensure everyone is in the best position to avoid illness and disease.

  • Financial Education – Women are also trained in basic business skills and financial management, with the aim of providing them with the perfect platform to build a successful career in the future. This is a big step on their journey to economic independence and can be a huge help in building a comfortable home and life.

The Great Work Done by Women for Women International

The organisation celebrated a big milestone last year, reaching 30 years since it was founded. In that time, amazing work has been done, and we wanted to share some of these with you now.

To start, over half a million women have been helped by the work done by Women for Women International. This was spread across 17 countries that were all affected by war.

Just last year, over 30,000 women were helped in countries such as Palestine and Ukraine, where war has led to terrible conditions.

With amazing campaigns such as #SHEDARES and #POWERTOCHANGE helping to empower people across the globe, the organisation is reaching new heights year after year as funding and awareness grow.

But it’s not just the statistics that shed a light on the great work being done.

Behind every number are real stories of resilience and strength. Over the 30 years of work, there have been countless testimonials from women who have turned their lives around.

From starting a business to becoming a key part of the community, there are endless tales of positivity that are directly related to the stunning work of this one organisation.

Why We Stand with Women for Women International

At Kooky, we share many of the core values of Women for Women International.

Their focus on compassion, diversity, and empowerment aligns perfectly with our ethos.

By partnering with them, we're not just supporting a charity; we're investing in a movement that echoes our belief in the power of new beginnings and the strength of unsung heroes.

Over the years in which we have supported the charity (it all started when one of our founders, Aline, went to an event held by the organisation) and learnt more about what they do, it has grown closer to our hearts, and we are proud to help in any way we can to promote and help their cause.

We are part of the #SHEINSPIRESME SQUAD. Together, with our team Fast Foodies and the squad, we raised over £5000 in the Royal Park Half Marathon in 2023.

We are also lucky to sponsor some of the women affected by the charity, (we have sponsored seven sisters since Kooky was launched) and you can read the story of Sarah Davou here, who thanks to the organisation has learnt many skills and is now on her way to setting up her own small business.

Through charity runs and other events, our support for Women for Women International is hopefully helping to make a difference, and we will continue doing our part where we can for this wonderful organisation.

The Road Ahead

As Women for Women International continues its vital work, the need for support grows.

Conflict and post-conflict zones are constantly evolving, and the organisation adapts its approach to meet these changing needs.

Conclusion

Women for Women International represents more than just a charity; it's a testament to the strength and resilience of women worldwide.
