There are over 300 named varieties in Thailand alone, and more than 100 varieties in Malaysia. Despite the controversy surrounding its smell, durian is beloved in many parts of the world for its unique taste and texture.
The fruit’s texture is described as soft and creamy, and its flavour can vary from sweet and rich like caramel to slightly savoury, or even bitter, depending on the variety.
